I can’t wait to photograph someone else this way – so beautiful!! I loved having the elements in place and then creating the look and vibe of the outfit! I have so many different things in my style closet- and it really amazing to use something in a new way. I make outfits all the time and absolutely love putting it all together!! Thanks to Makeup by Dina for the excellent hair and makeup and assisting me with the shoot!!

Fit and Beautiful | Inspiring Other Women to Be Strong

So- I “met” this lovely woman multiple times before I ACTUALLY met her in person. Have you ever had this happen to you? Nina Lomax. I heard that name lots of times on the lips of women that I met out networking. “Oh, you have to meet Nina- she is incredible. And she helps women be strong.” Those were the things I would hear.  I knew I had to meet her- her mission is similar to mine, we just have chosen different paths to get to the same result. I crashed a networking holiday party and lo and behold Nina was there and we were formally introduced. I told her she should be photographed – and she had said that folks had told her about me, saying that she should have a session with me.
Nina’s story is incredible and she has a  gift for empowering women to find their own strength through fitness, but in particular weight training. Her business Body Conscience is in Manassas. Nina was a pioneer for women using weights in gyms. Check out these photos of Nina and SO glad to have met this woman!!

Branding is Vital to YOU | Branding Photography

Branding is just not for big companies or product lines! Branding is for everyone. I happen to be a small business owner/entrepreneur – and I am my brand. So, it is obliviously important to me and other entrepreneurs that we have photographs that reflect us as a people, our brand and the nuances of our brand experiences.  Even if you are an a realtor, an accountant, an attorney, sales person, an author (I could go on here and list all the occupations), you need to represent YOU as YOUR own brand.
People connect with emotions and people. How are YOU representing your OWN personal brand? For example, if you are a sales person working for a company, the people that purchase your products do so–I will bet–because they have connected with YOUR personal brand!
A Case Study in Branding: I met Lisa Marie Platske at a networking function. She was the featured speaker. Lisa Marie is a best selling author and business coach. Before we did a branding shoot for her business, we discussed the vibe she wanted, the colors that represent her business and her brand and the feelings we wanted to convey with her imagery. Below are a few of the images from her shoot. Everything was done with a purpose.  And of course, we had a great time on the shoot!!

Body Acceptance | Loving Your Self

Back when I was a teenager, I modeled. I modeled runway for local department stores and other fashion shows. I really wanted to pursue modeling – but was told I was too curvy  and my facial structure was not “sharp.” In the magazines at the time, I really didn’t see any girls with little noses, round faces and fuller bottoms. Almost everywhere I looked there were NO  body types that represented ME. I think we are on the verge of something quite beautiful and it has been happening slowly, but I think in the last year or so we have made some wonderful strides!! Kate Moss was one of the first supermodels to be 5’7″ – yes!! Look at Maye Musk, right now– she is the face of cover girl cosmetics at the young age of 69- YES!! And look at the wave of body acceptance Ashley Graham has started- YES!!!

Ladies and gentlemen, we come in ALL shapes and sizes- little noses, flat noses, sharp cheekbones and round chipmunk cheeks– our skin has a many shades as we can possibly imagine. And as we age, we don’t grow LESS beautiful – we GROW into our beauty, our wisdom our TRUE selves!!! These are the facts- and FINALLY we are starting to see this embraced in the brands and marketing campaigns.

I beg you to stop comparing yourself to anyone- YOU ARE UNIQUE, AND UNIQUELY BEAUTIFUL. Please help me in wishing this girl right here, Laura, all the opportunities and positivity we can muster- she is pursuing her dream of being a MODEL – rock on Laura!!
