UPW 2019 | You Freaking ROCK

I am all about positive thinking and creating your life. For years now, I have been reading books from all kinds of amazing mentors. I will give you a list of my top 5 books that I have gotten the most out of over the years (there are so many and it was incredibly hard to limit this list to 5!!)

What I wanted to share with you today was a live workshop I went to in LA about a month ago. This was only my second workshop/speaker event like this. The first one was back in the late 80s I went to hear Zig Ziglar speak. It was a great time. BUT, Tony Robbins’ Unleash the Power Within was truly a life changing event. Four days of non-stop energy. What were the days like? Imagine a rock concert of positivity and transformation. We started at 9am and didn’t end until around 10pm. The first night was longer than that — we ended at midnight.

I learned. I was reminded. I was shocked.

I learned- one of the biggest takeaways for me was your “state” can be controlled. Have you ever been in a bad mood and then did physical activity and then thought, well, I don’t feel so bad now. We know this is caused by endorphins kicking in and altering your mood, right. But what if you could do this at will and in “a heartbeat”? You can. In this workshop, there was a lot of scientific facts, which as a lover of research, I really appreciated!

I was reminded- I have done a lot of work over the years with mind body connection. I actually used to teach yoga. So, I know the power of connecting the breath, the body and the spirit. This workshop with speakers like Master Stephen Co was a powerful reminder for me to get back to breathing. Funny right!! We all breathe to live without thinking. But let me just say, if you have never tried “breathing to live” it is life altering.

I was shocked- On these events, UPW (Unleash the Power Within), they have a Firewalker Ceremony. It’s where the participants walk across hot coals barefoot. Well, I decided before I left for the workshop that I was NOT going to do this. My thought process was “why do I need to do this, I am not trying to prove anything to anyone.” So, I told my husband I wasn’t doing that part of the workshop. The time came and he said to me, “just take your shoes off and walk there and see how you feel.” So, I did. The closer I got to my turn, the more determined I became in my mind to do this. I was WALKING. When I got to the other side of the coals, the two attendants  had to pull me back on the mat to rinse my feet. I DID IT!! (with no injury) I am NOT telling you this to brag or boost— NOT at all. I am telling you this to say: THAT I CAN DO ANYTHING I SET MY MIND TO. I proved it to myself that night. And I am not special, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU SET YOUR MIND TO ALONG WITH ME!!

This is a personal post. I am thankful that you chose to read this. And I am honored; time is in such short supply today. But if you ever want to meet up and chat about books, workshops or living your best life…I WOULD LOVE TO!! And to sum it up, in one of the best phrases that we used at UPW: YOU FREAKING ROCK!
