Lisa and Nick met online and she said that what made her notice Nick was the fact he was wearing a hat in his profile picture! The hat reminded her of the kind of hat that the characters of the game called “Guess Who” …I loved that game as a kid, and I have bought it as an adult and played it! (but I digress) SO, they definitely wanted to include hats in their photos! I am really honored to share Lisa and Nick’s summer wedding!!

The rain held off until after sunset and everyone was safely under the tent!!Angela got ready at their home and Clint at a hotel at National Harbor. They chose to see each other before their evening ceremony…Angela picked their first look location, Belle Haven Park and Marina! What an honor to capture them seeing each for the first time on their wedding day…We could see the National Harbor from across the river! I loved their Bobble Head cake topper!! Angela put together all the touches for her garden wedding and Oxon Hill Manor made a wonderful backdrop!! Best wishes to Angela and Clint!!

Engagement Photos | Virginia Beach
It was a road trip this weekend to Virginia Beach! Honored to be capturing Selina and Andrew’s October wedding this year! They are a fun couple!! They met through a friend. Well actually, Andrew says that he made a “swift move” and stole Selina away; I think it was very mutual; ) And this love story has a furry four legged character named Cheech! One of my favorite pictures is where Cheech is closing his eyes as his “parents” kiss…too funny!
We took the first half of the photos at Selina’s parents home, on the dock right on the bay… and the others were taken at Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge was established in 1938 as a 4,589-acre refuge to provide feeding and resting habitat for migratory birds. The sun was peeking in and out of the clouds! And there was no fan needed for hair — the wind was taking care of that for us!
It was a beautiful day spent with a wonderful couple! And so excited to share their wedding in the fall!!

Boy, these guys were troopers!! It was was cold …but what a great time we had! We started the session at an Irish pub that Megan and Tim met at…unfortunately, it is now closed down. But it was June a few years back when they met there and it looked different and lively and no big banks of snow around! But alas, even though it is no longer the pub it once was…it has a special place in their hearts! And I loved the colors and textures of the front patio area. Next, we went to the Ice Cream Depot in downtown Clifton (the depot is closed and reopens in the spring!), where they had there first date AND where Tim proposed!! The ring shots were taken in an approximate location of the proposal; ) to hear this fun couple tell the story was great, and there is a bit of controversy surrounding the exact event, but I leave that to them; ) We had a wonderful time and it was nice to spend time with them…at the end of our session, we headed over to the railroad tracks for one last shot and a nice lady, randomly offered her dog to pose with Megan and Tim. You never know about your session… it is always an adventure! Megan loved up on the dog…and I snapped away!

Phoenix and the Apache Trail
I headed out to Phoenix for a workshop…I stayed a couple of extra days. I had only seen Phoenix from the air before this…and wow, I love the desert! And Phoenix! (now, it could be that it was almost 80 degrees and it was 20 when I left Virginia) There were so many kinds of cacti. I drove on parts of the Apache Trail and then took a jeep ride with Dusty Bottoms into the desert, where I got to eat a cactus, a teddy bear cactus to be exact. He burned the spines and then cut the cactus in half…Dusty said that this is what the Native Americans ate to get vitamin C, twice as much as an orange. It was kinda slimy and tasted like a cucumber. And who knew there was desert mistletoe!! I saw one of the most beautiful sunsets ever over the city of Phoenix. And met some amazing women photographers!!
