Sweet Pink Bakery | Wedding Cakes in Woodbridge

This year I will be interviewing vendors, women and other cool people to put here on my blog! I hope you enjoy getting to know Yuliana, from Sweet Pink Bakery!  Sweet Pink creates wedding cakes, birthday cakes and everything sweet. Her macaroons are brilliantly yummy!!

DG-What led you into becoming a pastry chef?
Y-I have always cooked and baked. When I was just out of high school, I was planning a trip to Japan. I had purchased my plane ticket and I had a place to stay, but I needed spending money. My mom was a business owner and I used to bring my baked items in from time to time. One of my mom’s customer said, “Why don’t you sell your baked goods to raise money for your trip.” I came back from my trip and signed up for Pastry Chef School.

DG-Pick three words to describe your work-
Y– Sweet – Dedicated – Fun (and I – DG – would like to add Delicious and Creative!!!)

DG-What kinds of things do you like to do outside of your work?
Y-I love cooking and my husband and I are wine enthusiasts. We love our pets. Dexter, our Great Dane, goes with us to wineries (if the wineries are dog friendly). Oh, I also love traveling.

DG– What is one of your favorite places that you have visited?
Y– Turkey. I fell in the love with the culture–the people were incredible!! It was some of the best food I have ever had–the desserts, the spices! But I want to say, Barcelona, Spain would be a close second!

DG-What is something that inspires you?
Y– Spring. The colors and hues of the season inspire my work and me personally as well! Nature is just filled with beautiful colors. And also, the minds of children–they are so open and creative!

DG-If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self what would it be?
Y– Follow your path. Follow your instincts and do what you love from the very beginning.

DG-What is it that you want your work/art to accomplish in the world?
Y– Make people happy, make people smile. When I think of sweets, I think of happiness.
(DG – spoken like a true baker!)

Here are some photos of Yuliana’s work!
